Alan’s Nature Notes from November
Hello again
We'll start off with animals this month---I was passing the stream near Milton, when a slight movement caught my eye---a squirrel in the stream?---no, not a squirrel, but a stoat! He (she) was having a drink, but shot away quickly when it saw me. I was very pleased to see it, because one rarely sees a stoat. Ray tells me he saw not one, but four deer in the lower mead field the other day.
Back to birds---I always take a look into the village stream when I''m passing by. The grey wagtails are about again, and I was lucky enough …

Payhembury Short Mat Bowls
What a pity only members of the club turned up to our open evening on Thursday 23 October. Twelve of us had a fun evening with lots of laughter.

Churchmouse – December
Hi Friends
We mice have been practicing our carols so we can go out carol singing again this year. We had such fun last year that we are really excited about carolling again this year. We are really looking forward to Christmas. We love Christmas in church, all the lovely singing and decorations and of course all the lovely …

Well, the weather has definitely taken a big turn for the worse recently---its more like mid November than October! However, when the weather deteriorates we often see more birds in the garden. They seem to know when the bad weather is coming, so they feed up on the goodies we provide for them.
In our garden, we've had lots of goldies, chaffinches and tits---mainly great and blue tits, but also cole and long tailed tits flitting about. The latter come in gangs and pass through. We saw a green woodpecker the other day. We …

Churchmouse – November
Hi friends
Can you see what I’m up to? I love this time of year as I love playing conkers. Well, you might think that we mice are far too small to play conkers but we don’t play it like you humans do, with horse chestnuts drilled with a hole and a piece of string tied through, no we have our own special way, which we think is great.
First of all we find a horse chestnut tree, they do look lovely when the blossom is out, but then we know that good conkers will form. When the wind blows the chestnuts fall off and we mice then push them into …
