The committee held its annual meeting in March where it was revealed that our bank balance is actually fairly healthy at the moment. However, this is mainly due to the envelopes put in the magazines which raised £352 and a generous donation of £150 from the shop, so we are well aware that we need to keep an eye on the ball.
Some people feel there are rather a lot of adverts in the paper, but without them we would not be able to give every household in the parish a FREE parish paper every month of the year. This year the income from advertising …

Alan’s Nature Notes from March
Hello again
Well, Spring has sprung! The birds are singing, the bees are buzzing and some butterflies are fluttering.
It was very Spring-like on 24th February, so I was encouraged to take a walk down to Tuck Mill. Some primroses were flowering along the lane, but the recent storms have felled two trees by the river. Talking of primroses, have you seen them outside Nan's by Warren Close. They have special significance for Margaret and I because the seeds were sown by Jackie Platt, who lived there, and has since sadly passed away.

Churchmouse – April
Dear Friends,
As you can see we mice are really happy. Do you know why? Well the sun has got its hat on and it’s come out to play! WE have been able to run around outside instead of having to stay indoors in the dry, it’s been great to feel the sun on our furry backs. It’s been even funnier to see some knobbly knees appearing around the village, they do look a bit white but soon they will be brown. What we really like is to see the lovely spring flowers, the snowdrops and crocuses and daffodils in the churchyard look lovely. Do you know Dad …

The 51st Payhembury Spring Bulb and Flower Show – 2014
I am sure you will all agree that the hall looked and smelt fabulous last Saturday for the show. Thank you to everyone that came and took part making it another successful village event. We had 426 entries and were pleased that Dr Tim Cox came and opened for us.
