Hello everyone
Two of my informants (!!) have told me that we have not one, but two red kites in the area. In fact, they are a pair who are nesting. I haven't seen them myself, but I'll be keeping my eyes peeled. As you may know, red kites are making a big come back in Britain, having recovered from near extinction. They are large beautiful birds of prey, with a forked tail, so if you see them, do let me know.
I hope the pair of bullfinches I reported on last month are still about---I did see one in my garden a couple of weeks …

Alan’s Nature Notes from May
“They Dream of Home”
On Friday 13th June at 7.30pm in Payhembury Hall, there will be a first reading of ‘They Dream of Home’, a new play by John Somers to commemorate the outbreak of WW1. We will read the script and discuss how this ‘processional production’ will take place in early September in various locations in Payhembury village. Unless the weather is too bad, we will be able to walk around Payhembury to look at and discuss the locations where the performance will happen. Males in the 15 to 40 age bracket are especially needed.
Attendance does not mean you …

People of Payhembury
To the people of Payhembury
(especially those living around the Green)

When everyone has left the church …

Churchmouse – May
OOOOOH Dear Friends, I have such a tummy ache, I have been rather silly. You see Rev Cate left some chocolate eggs and other chocolates lying around in church. I love chocolate but Mum told me I mustn’t touch them as they weren’t mine. Well I knew that now Easter is over Rev Cate wouldn’t need the chocolate so each day I nibbled a little, then a little more and then a little more until it made me very poorly. My tummy ached and ached, Parchina took this photo of me lying in our nest feeling very poorly. You see mice aren’t supposed to eat …
