Scam Warning from Community Police
Paul’s Nature Notes August/September 2020
I feared for our House Martins when those August storms hit. All my fears proved to be needless, however, as somehow the parents found enough insects to feed their young, a small miracle in itself. As their poo piled up beneath the nest, they prospered and by mid-September they fledged, all returning to the nest for one last time late one evening. The next day they were gone, soon to start their long migration to Africa. How I miss their quiet “chuntering” and am looking forwards to their return next year.
I much regret to report that there …

Reverend David’s October Message – Three Short Words
How often in a typical day do I ‘judge’ someone? Many times, probably. There’s the car driver who’s too fast / too slow (compared to my own perfect speed, of course). There’s the inconsiderate neighbour – not that I’ve ever been one myself. The Government gets a good dose of my judgements on their decisions. And the Opposition. And the judgemental person on social media. I could go on.

Payhembury Provisions News – October
This month we were hoping to encourage everyone to come to our annual members meeting but at the time of writing it looks like this is unlikely to go ahead in its traditional form. In the meantime we are always happy to try and answer your questions and we welcome any suggestions you have; it's your shop!
Sadly, our favourite local yoghurt and ice cream makers …

Payhembury Provisions News – September
We have all been admiring the flowers by the Payhembury sign and along Church Lane recently as well as the fields full of cheerful sunflowers at Rull and brilliant blue chicory flowers at the bottom of Poffitt Lane and it made us wonder if we could start selling cut flowers. Luckily for us we have found a grower and garden designer in Colestocks who we hope is going to provide us with beautiful fresh Devon garden flowers to sell in our shop, none of your long distance air-freighted flowers here!
Weekends are busy in the shop with lots of …

Crime Prevention Tips
During the month of August the Rural Affairs Team had the monthly theme of 'Equine Crime'. We produced an information sheet with some crime prevention advice for horse owners. These can also be applied to a farm/yard environment.
Unfortunately, over recent weeks our force area has been subject to a number of rural crimes where barns, stables, yards and other isolated areas have been targetted and items such as tools, plant/machinery, quads and other farming equipment has been stolen.
Please take a moment to read the attached advice and check …
