Hi there everyone
Well, the undoubted highlight for me during the last month has been not one, but two red kites flying over our house. Presumably a pair, they stayed around for about five minutes, quartering the area. They have been in the Payhembury area for over a month, because others have seen them. Let’s hope that they stay much longer, and start a family here.
It has been good butterfly weather recently, and I’ve seen red admirals, peacocks, meadow browns, tortoiseshells, gatekeepers, whites and the odd skipper. Also moths have been more evident.
Andrew tells me that he’s had two species of deer in his garden. Normally, he sees roe deer, but he has also had a larger, fallow deer too. He also sees lots of bird species, including goldcrests and bullfinches, as do his near neighbours, the Listers.
Victoria has had seen spotted flycatchers near her home. Mike has come across a family of mandarin ducks in The Tale, down Poffit Lane—I must have a walk down there to see them!
