“Barnstorming”

13 November 2012 By Sue

This year’s harvest barn dance organised by Payhembury Playing Fields went down a storm!

It was held at Victoria Farm with kind permission of the Daymond family. Lively music by the Lucy Lastic band got everyone up and dancing and smiling. We provided a rustic ploughman’s supper with a variety of cheeses and produce from our Community Shop.

We had lots of help and need to give special thanks to the following people:

  • The East Family for transport
  • Steve of SE Auto Engineers for his space heater and te Leach Family for the diesel to fuel it
  • Marty our postman for his willing help
  • Jim Baker who provided and delivered the straw bales which closed off the front of the barn and on which some of the children had so much fun!
  • Payhembury Pre-School for their most excellent pudding bar

Finally we must say thank you to all who came. The costs of putting on such an event are considerable and even so we made around £150 for the Playing Fields and Pre School made around £100 from their puddings. Mainly though we made a lot of people’s evening!
