Churchmouse – December

30 November 2015 By Sue

cateDear Friends

We had a shock in church this month, a pool appeared and was filled with water. What, we wondered, was this for? Was it some new way of spring cleaning? Well, we waited to see what was happening and what a surprise, there was a Christening service, nothing unusual about that, but during this baptism, Abigail and Anna went right under the water. That certainly was a bit different from babies being held over the font!

We heard Abigail and Anna making their promises to follow the teachings of Jesus and everyone sang happy songs. We mice really enjoyed it and we wondered whether we could ask Reverend Cate if she would baptize us, because we follow the teachings of Jesus and try hard to help everyone and be kind and caring.

As it’s coming up to Christmas, we wondered how we could help some of our field mouse friends as they find it very cold and wet out in the fields, so we have invited our nearest field mouse families into church for Christmas lunch. They were so delighted and excited and said that they could bring some of the berries and nuts they have stored away for the winter and we will make sure we pick up lots of mince pie crumbs after the carol service and maybe find some other interesting things about in church too.

Parchina and I are trying hard to think of some presents we could make for them. cate2Parchina thought we could make some umbrellas out of old service sheets but I don’t think they would be very waterproof. What we really need are a few of Reverend Cate’s polythene envelopes so let’s hope she leaves some around. I have seen green ones that would make a jolly umbrella. It’s great to be thinking of things we can do for others and making presents for them is such fun. Must dash.

Oh, nearly forgot, Happy Christmas!
Love, Parchie and Parchina
