Churchmouse – July

26 June 2016 By Sue

xxx4Dear Friends,

What fun we have been having. We just loved the Queen’s birthday weekend. We mice had a great party, shame about the weather, but we all dressed up. We made robes from small pieces of material we found lying around; no we didn’t bite bits off Rev Cate’s robes. Mum was busy for days sewing tiny pieces together to make a long cloak for Parchina and we found some tin foil and made crowns. Everyone dressed up, our mice cousins came in from the field and we had a mouse street party behind the church. We had hoped that if the children had had their tea party on the green we could gather up lots of leftovers, but we managed very well with bits we had xxx5gathered from the fields.

It was such a fun day. We watched, from a distance, Payhembury’s Got Talent and enjoyed the singing and dancing and acting and then we put on our own show in the evening up on top of the screen in church. Grandpa mouse told long stories and some very strange jokes; the field mouse choir sang and played their wooden instruments and eventually we all tumbled into bed very late. It was a good job we didn’t have an early service next day in church, as everyone was at CAFÉ and we could get a lie in.

We heard in church today Rev Cate talk about weddings coming up, Sue and Dave and Marcus and Kirsty, oh we love weddings. But we also heard about a Bell Ringing competition. Gosh I bet that will be noisy, so we might have to get ear muffs, but I bet it will be good fun. Did you know sometimes Parchina and I swing on the bell ropes? Shush don’t tell Mum, she will be very cross.

Well we must run along now as there is so much to do when it’s summer, so many lovely places to play and lots of food to gather, see you soon,

Parchie and Parchina
