Churchmouse – March

1 March 2014 By Sue

cate mouseDear Friends, how are you all, wet and soggy like us? We mice really have got fed up with the rain, fun at first with great shoots of water pouring off the roof, we like to get large leaves and surf on it but now we have got bored with that. Well actually we have been told off by Dad as he says it’s very dangerous! So our leaf surfing days have come to an end and we’ve had to spend our time trying to find things to do in church. A lot of our time is spent searching for crumbs as we can’t go out and find berries and juicy things to eat. We were able to store up a nice few bits and pieces after the Christingle service, the yummy cakes were especially nice, but we didn’t find many sweet I think the children had eaten them all up very quickly. Did you know the Christingles were left in church over night, Parchina and I looked longingly at them but Mum told us we mustn’t go near them and we did do as she told us as we didn’t want to spoil things for the next day.

We have also been very worried about our mice friends in other parts of the country particularly our cousins in Somerset, we do hope they are OK and have managed to climb up trees to safety.

We do hope that by the time you read this we will have had some nicer weather, I don’t mind if it’s cold, I want to wear the new scarf I had at Christmas and it will be great to see the children come into church on Thursday with their lovely coloured wooly hats rather than wet soggy coats. We mice do think that even when it’s wet they still sing so beautifully and we really look forward to hearing their lovely singing, it cheers us up. They don’t notice but sometimes we join in as well. Spring is round the corner, so let’s hope there is sunshine on the way and our fur can dry out properly. Must dash now, Parchie.
