Avid readers of the parish mag will have noticed that we didn’t have a piece in last month’s edition, for which I can only apologise. Due to the poor weather and various opposition crying off we reached the end of June having played only seven games, of which, we won………..er………… um………none (although we did manage a tie on one occasion!) So nothing to shout about really.
However July has seen a much needed upturn in our fortunes in many ways. Firstly, Umpire John Somers has returned to fitness and is able to stand once more for us, lovely to …

A New Season at Tuck Mill
As I type I’m looking out at the still highly illegal cricket field, brimming with ewes and lambs as they seem to think its breakfast time. You might at this point be thinking something along the lines of “why on earth doesn’t the old boy stop banging on about planning permission?” The answer is simple, by the beginning of last summer we had reached a position with EDDC whereby they were insistent that to play cricket legally in the field we needed a “Mixed Social and Sporting Use” Permission. By the end of the summer, in order to satisfy the …

Cricket Force Day 2019
We will be holding Cricket Force Day on:
Sunday 14th April at 10am
The more that turn up to help the quicker the job will get done so we’d be very grateful of whatever time you can offer, please let know if you can make it and we can plan jobs accordingly.
We are still no further on with the planning permission, despite having put all the clubs savings into surveys and risk assessments. One day we might hear something.

End of Year Report from the Millers
2018 was a year of good progress for Tale Millers CC, both on and off the field. It’s easy to forget that this was just the fifth season for our fledgling club and, despite losing a couple of games to the weather in this year’s non existent spring and another during England’s World Cup run, we still managed to squeeze in 23 games, 13 of which were victories, 2 ties (!)and 8 defeats. Our focus continues to be on playing friendly, sociable cricket for mixed ages and abilities and thanks to Ed East, who turns out the finest after match meals in …

TMCVC Latest
As the hot weather has continued, interspersed with the odd shower, the pitch , which still looks remarkably green, has now dried out sufficiently in some parts for a hand to fit in its cracks ! Sadly our roller has died so generally the surface isn’t quite at the standard we’d like but most seem to appreciate the need to bowl with caution.
The month has seen three wins on the trot over Plymtree, Broadhembury Lions and Nynehead, followed by defeat to a very strong Clyst Hydon team and a Tie with the boys from The Talaton Inn. At Plymtree, The …
