As the long awaited summer weather is upon us, the month has seen some exciting cricket and not just in the Test arena where “Bazball” has taken centre stage. The demolition of New Zealand followed by victory over India have made Test cricket sexy again and there’s no doubt the longer format of the game will benefit hugely from this new era of entertainment. For the hooligans amongst you, fear not, “The Hundred” is just around the corner ☹
After a couple of wet weeks (remember them?) we entertained The Sunsets at Tuck Mill and after The …

Tale Millers Cricket Club – July 2022
Tale Millers Cricket Club – June 2022
After years in the wilderness, the Millers finally got some silverware under their belt by winning the world famous T20 Whimple Jubilee Cup. Following an early morning start and a great win over the Ottery carnival squad, the afternoon got underway with a 139 total set by our hosts Whimple. Enter Tale Millers and after a fabulous lesson in batting from our openers Jason Wood and John Pengelly, Tale Millers came through with several overs to spare… Notable mentions (both innings); Ben Peters for the quick fire 30 (off 10 balls), Sam Franks for 4 …

Tale Millers Cricket Club – May 2022
Its quite likely to be June by the time you read this, I’m not sure where the time goes and Ive just heard that mother is already working on next Christmas’s hand illustrated Christmas card ! Whilst we haven’t had a home game just yet the Miller’s whites were first seen this year as far back as 20th April , when we made the short trip to Clyst Hydon on a beautiful sunny evening , ending in a three run defeat but more importantly some jolly tasty hot dogs being served up. Runs for Jason Wood, Sam Franks and Jon Pengelly and two wickets for …

Tale Millers Cricket Club – April News
As we come out of winter hibernation, or a lambing shed, spring is allegedly just around the corner and it will soon be time to work out where you left your kit at the end of the 2021 season and stick it through the washing machine, pressing the cycle marked “annual”. For those keen types, you might even fit a new multi-coloured rubber to your bat handle.
As I type, we are in mid March and have spent many recent days getting buffeted (not in the Yellingham sense) by wind and rain. The tree loss count is by far the highest we have known in our …

Tale Millers Cricket Club – September News
And so as August draws to what seems to be an increasingly normal damp and overcast end, we put our bats away for another summer and predictably mid September sees temperatures in the early twenties and glorious sunshine! Its been a good summer, whilst no one could claim that the weather gods have been overly kind, we’ve lost very few games to the weather – come to that in 21 attempts we also only lost to 5 opposition teams. Sixteen victories is by far our best season to date, well done and thankyou to all who contributed.
Whilst our stalwart …

The Spring Bulb and Flower Show needs YOU!
It is with regret, much soul searching and consultation with bulb show committee members past and present, that the bulb show has come to an end. With fewer and fewer entries each year, it was felt that the break, forced on us by the pandemic (the last bulb show was in March 2018), provided a time of refection and the current committee has reluctantly stood down.
BUT, all is not lost. If you feel that you would like to see the bulb show resurrected, please contact Roz Mullin, who will be very happy to organise a meeting for new potential …

Tale Millers Cricket – Unlucky 13!!
Well, we have to start with a mention of global warming! We have just come through a showery June and early July to now hit temperatures approaching 30 degrees, almost too hot for cricket. And just when we thought we would never get the hay made, its drying as soon as we can turn it. Good news for the cattle for next winter.
After winning the first 13 games of the season, a record to be proud of even though I do hold some bias, game number 14 was The Millers undoing. On a dull and dreary evening our visitors from Cider country defended a …
