Payhembury Tennis Court Update

It is that time of the year again where we wait to see how much sunshine the summer will grace us with, rummaging around in the garage to find if your racquet still has strings and then being inspired to play tennis after watching Konta, Watson, Murray or Edmund! Maintained single tennis courts in villages are on the decline in England and it is something to celebrate that Payhembury still has a court that is available for all the community to use. Tennis Club News – June 2017

Payhembury Tennis Club is one of the few sporting organisations in the village and has a single tarmac court situated in the playing fields. It has a history going back 30 years when the court used to be grass. In modern times the tennis club has recently been successful in a bid to improve the facilities and surface. People wanting to play on the court should use the booking sheets that are held at Payhembury Provisions and there is a small charge for non-members. Tennis Club News – February

The court had a good clean up in January. The committee would like to thank everyone who came. A special thanks to Rob Leach for his cutting equipment which meant the hedge has been chopped right back and should stay that way for a long time. We are having the court treated for moss during February, so after that it should be looking really good and be ready to play on. Let's hope we gat some fabulous hot, sunny tennis weather.
