Tale Millers Cricket Club

Tale Millers CC logo

Tale Millers was formed in 2014 for local folk to enjoy some friendly 20 Over Cricket, a pint or two and some friendly banter during the summer months. We welcome enquiries from opposition teams, and new players, whatever age and sex, or join the ranks of our growing social membership.

We play our home games at Tuck Mill, a pleasant short stroll from the centre of the village on a summers evening.

  • Visitors and walk-ins are welcome during game days

  • Social memberships are available at a low annual rate

  • BBQs are catered after every match

  • Ice cold Thatcher’s and lagers are now on tap!

Hope to see you and the family there.

Tale Millers Cricket Club – April News

April 10th, 2022

As we come out of winter hibernation, or a lambing shed, spring is allegedly just around the corner and it will soon be time to work out where you left your kit at the end of the 2021 season and stick it through the washing machine, pressing the cycle marked “annual”. For those keen types, you might even fit a new multi-coloured rubber to your bat handle. As I type, we are in mid March and have spent many recent days getting buffeted (not in the Yellingham sense) by wind and rain. The tree loss count is by far the […]

Tale Millers Cricket Club – September News

September 28th, 2021

And so as August draws to what seems to be an increasingly normal damp and overcast end, we put our bats away for another summer and predictably mid September sees temperatures in the early twenties and glorious sunshine! Its been a good summer, whilst no one could claim that the weather gods have been overly kind, we’ve lost very few games to the weather – come to that in 21 attempts we also only lost to 5 opposition teams. Sixteen victories is by far our best season to date, well done and thankyou to all who contributed. Whilst our stalwart […]

Tale Millers Cricket – Unlucky 13!!

August 3rd, 2021

Well, we have to start with a mention of global warming! We have just come through a showery June and early July to now hit temperatures approaching 30 degrees, almost too hot for cricket. And just when we thought we would never get the hay made, its drying as soon as we can turn it. Good news for the cattle for next winter. After winning the first 13 games of the season, a record to be proud of even though I do hold some bias, game number 14 was The Millers undoing. On a dull and dreary evening our visitors […]

TMCC Latest

July 12th, 2021

After the rain of recent times it was no great surprise that the bowlers came out on top in last nights match at Tuck Mill . Batting first Millers innings was glued together by a patient 20 not out from Shane Tout, supported by 27 from Jason Wood and 18 from Dan Rugg, closing on 94 all out with just seven shots breaching the boundary ropes and Bob Adam’s returning very impressive figures of 5-12. Fullsys Allstars response was pretty much halted before it could get going with Neil Chambers taking 5-5 right at the start of the innings and […]

TMCC News – July 2021

June 28th, 2021

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly the weather can change at this time of year- so from my piece last month when I was fretting about the damp weather, we have moved to a new situation whereby the Skipper/Plumber and I had a conversation yesterday about the most effective way to water the wicket as its starting to crack . For those who don’t know The Tale Valley is full of nature but not so full of topsoil – perhaps unsurprising on a flood plain ! The minute I put pen to paper our impressive record will, of […]

TMCC News – May 2021

May 28th, 2021

Well after a very dry April there was something predictable about the start of the cricket season, so after a couple of dry but somewhat chilly weeks we are now in the middle of a damper spell. That should not be confused with the dampening of enthusiasm among our squad for whilst we have only managed two games to date they have resulted in a 100% away record, with wins coming at Clyst Hydon (when it felt like about minus 5) and down on the Jurassic Coast at Branscombe, when it was a bit warmer. Whilst we haven’t yet been […]
