Friends of Payhembury School

FOPS is made up of all those parents and carers connected with school and is organised through a committee made up of parents/carers. The committee makes decisions about the events and takes care of the formal aspects but rely on everyone else to get involved. We are extremely lucky to have such a great team at Payhembury and all the parents/carers and children are always willing to get stuck in and help out.

Some of our regular events include the Christmas Fair, May Day Fair, ice cream sales after school, wild area working days (with lots of yummy cake) and helping out generally with school as and when we are needed.

Through fundraising events FOPS raise money for fantastic school trips as well as things like the outdoor shelter, scooters, bike racks, welly racks, new outdoor play area and much more. We also organise social events for parents/carers and children throughout the year.

As the school continues to thrive there are more and more people willing and able to help and in doing so make FOPS a successful and fun group to be part of. We look forward to welcoming you to our amazing school and to FOPs.

FOPs News – November

October 18th, 2019

At the FOPS AGM held recently, we officially announced the total figure that was raised over the course of the last academic year to be a whopping £7,536, which equates to £75 per child! As we always say – this is only possible due to a huge commitment and effort from parents & the wider community. Special thanks, of course must once again go to Payhembury Provisions, who generously donated £2,300 towards our grand laptop appeal. AGM news: George Searle stood down as co-chair of FOPS at the meeting. George’s pragmatic & focused approach played a huge part in our enormously successful […]

School Disco

March 9th, 2019

Everyone who came along to the school disco last week seemed to have a brilliant time – some great dancing, fun & games (and that was just from the teachers!). Thank you to Rob Elsom for his brilliant DJ-ing, and to all the children for keeping the dancing going. We must have beaten a world record for the biggest (and longest!) game of musical statues. An amazing total of £323 was raised on the evening – what a great way to kick start our Grand Appeal for new laptops. Thank you all for your support

FOPs Update – July 2018

July 9th, 2018

The end of year disco is rapidly approaching – please see below for details. This is our last event of the year (we aren’t organising a Kidz Café) and have tried to keep costs down to enable as many children as possible to come. The DJ for the evening is Rob Elson – Sam’s dad! He demo-ed for us at the Easter Bingo and we thought he was good enough to invite back! We would like to decorate the hall – if you have any disco lights or similar we could borrow we would be really grateful. As with all […]

May Day Fair Success

June 4th, 2018

What a fantastic day we had for our annual May Day Fair. The children, the weather and even the dogs were brilliant. We are so lucky to have such community support for our school events and we are sure all those that came had a great time. We are immensely proud to announce that we raised well over £1,000 profit, the most we have ever raised at our May Day Fair. We are still finalising figures, so will report the exact amount in a future newsletter. A huge well done and thank you to all who came, to all the […]

FOPs Update – 3 November

November 3rd, 2017

Firstly a big thank you to everyone who come along to the Kids Cafe on the last day before half term. Oak class parents provided a lovely range of cakes which sold brilliantly. The game created by Alice and Gemma Millett seemed to go down well and William Brainch was the lucky winner of a jar of Smarties. Well done William and thank you to the Millets for creating the game. FOPS have a meeting on: Monday 6th November 3.30pm in the Village Hall to plan for the rest of this term. Please come along, children welcome.
