Millers v Erratics

10 August 2016 By Sue

miscDefeat by a single run!! Defeat snatched from the Jaws of Victory!!

A great game , albeit disappointing not to be on the winning side. Batting first The Erratics made a good start before Alex Scott took his first wicket of the season to peg them back. We were then treated to a Wood Combo as Dad Jason took four wickets and son Will, two, ( one caught by his Dad!) before Sam Carden found another one of his high loopers to round things off on 112-9.

The Millers found boundaries hard to come by with the slow outfield ( Groundsman Rugg was on his hols) but thanks to Paul Hynam , Oli Kittow and Sam Carden reached the half way stage on 63-2, a commanding position on the face of it. The second half of the innings saw just four boundaries as the Erratics bowling was definitely not (Erratic) and quelle excitement with just four needed off the last over ………………….. alas we fell short and adjourned to the club house to work out where it all went wrong!

Erratics 112-9 ( J Wood 4-20, W Wood 2-14, S Carden 1-11, A Scott 1-30)

Millers 111-6 ( O Kittow 20, S Carden 19, N Chambers 24, F Brauer 15 Not)

Erratics won by One Run
