Bring out the cake, candles and party poppers (we sell them all!), our birthday is in July and we’re going to be eight years old. We’ve made some changes over the years; when we started we had a part-time paid manager but now we are completely “do-it-yourself” except for professional help to oversee the book-keeping each month.
We have tried to respond to what you, our customers, have told us you would like to be able to buy; more local produce, more fresh fruit and veg and a great range of competitively priced wine. We hope that when you arrive home after a stressful day at work you will always be able to pop down to the shop and find everything you need to make a quick, delicious and good value meal for the family.
We have ditched the products that don’t sell so well (does anyone else remember the tins of stuffed vine leaves that lingered on the shelves in the early days?!) but we are always open to suggestions about new lines.
Thanks to all our customers and volunteers we have been able to support many groups and projects in the village to make it a better place for us all to live in. Now it’s time to look to the future and we are excited about possible new developments on the horizon for Payhembury Provisions.
The end of the school year is coming up and we wish good luck to all year 6 who will be taking the big step up to secondary school, and to all your hard-working teachers we wish you a very relaxing summer break.
