We know you’re always up for a new product in the shop and so we’ve added to our repertoire of weekend baking with Portuguese Pasteis de Nata. These are crisp flaky pastry tarts filled with creamy egg custard and a slightly caramelised finish and are absolutely delicious. They are baked at a very high temperature so the only problem is resisting taking the first bite until they have really cooled down! We are still baking our old favourites of buttery croissants, pains au chocolat and pains aux raisins to make your weekend breakfasts rather special.
If you like a spoonful of jam with your warm croissant we now have this years batch of Caroline and Angus’s Cokesputt jam made just down the road using freshly picked fruit from their lovely garden. With our selection of coffee from local company Miles and the Sunday papers you’ll be well set up for a leisurely weekend breakfast. Without mentioning any names, one of our younger customers takes this relaxed vibe to heart and sometimes does his weekend shopping in dressing gown and pyjamas, we love it!
After having to cancel last years annual members meeting we are keen to welcome everyone to this years meeting on Friday, October 22nd at 7pm in the village hall. Its your chance to find out more about the shop and how it is doing as well as to ask the committee questions and to make suggestions. We will be sharing out the proceeds from our weekly raffle so if you are in charge of a village organisation or group please write to David at the shop if you would like a grant. Tea, cake and chat afterwards!
