Payhembury Spring Bulb & Flower Show

Spring bulbs 300x225 f improf 300x225 Payhembury Spring Bulb & Flower Show The Spring Bulb and Flower Show was founded by members of the Payhembury Women’s Institute in 1962, but run independently of that organisation, so 2013 will see the 50th Anniversary. This is because the 39th show had to be cancelled in 2001 due to the Foot and Mouth restrictions.

It takes place in the Parish Hall on the third Saturday in March and attracts many entries in five sections – Bulbs, Flowers and Arrangements, Children’s Classes, Cookery and Preserves and Handicrafts.

Bulb Show Thanks

The 49th Open Show held on 17th March was agreed to be another success. The hall looked and smelt colourful and fragrant. We were delighted that our Chairman and founder member was able to open the Show for us and she thanked, and praised, all the exhibitors for their high standard of entries and especially those of the children. She also thanked the Committee, those who attended the Show and especially the team of helpers who carry out so many tasks to make the day so successful. Not long now until the 49th annual open show which is on Saturday 17th March 2012 in the Parish Hall doors will open at 4.30 p.m. and close at 6.15 p.m. I am sure that by now you will have picked up your schedule from Di, Louise, Jane or Payhembury Provisions and will be preparing your entries. Your entry forms and fees must be handed to one of the above no later than 10th March, so there is still time to get a schedule and participate.
