Payhembury Spring Bulb & Flower Show
The Spring Bulb and Flower Show needs YOU!
It is with regret, much soul searching and consultation with bulb show committee members past and present, that the bulb show has come to an end. With fewer and fewer entries each year, it was felt that the break, forced on us by the pandemic (the last bulb show was in March 2018), provided a time of refection and the current committee has reluctantly stood down. BUT, all is not lost. If you feel that you would like to see the bulb show resurrected, please contact Roz Mullin, who will be very happy to organise a meeting for new potential […]

Despite the inclement weather being against us, I’m sure you’ll agree the hall looked a picture on the day of the show. It was great to see so many bulbs and flowers which made it spring-like even though the day was freezing, and it kept trying to snow. On behalf of the committee I would like to give thanks and acknowledge those that helped make the show the success that it was. Thank you to: • Mo for the beautiful and enormous fruit basket donated for the raffle. • Joan and Clare for stewarding and also Joan for running […]

The hall looked beautiful on show day thanks to the concerted efforts of all those who displayed exhibits, and it smelled pretty good too. Thank you to all those who entered – without you there would be no show, and it proved yet again that there are a lot of talented Payhembrians out there. I would like to thank the committee first and foremost; for some it was their first show and everyone rose to the challenge and helped make sure everything ran smoothly. Also to Jo Vincent, Joan Jarvis, Julie Moore, Pat Holdaway and all the committee children who helped in one way or another. […]

It was a lovely show this year, and the hall looked fabulous as ever with the golden daffodils and all the tasty food. It is obvious that there are a lot of talented people in Payhembury when you walk around admiring the exhibits. Unfortunately there were fewer entries than last year and less people in attendance. This could be due to a number of contributory factors, such as the fact that it was Mothering Sunday the following day and people were away, there was a craft fair in Broadhembury at the same time and one of the reasons was definitely […]

In the children’s categories, Caitlin Brook, William Bentley and Amelia Wadsworth all won a Book Token. And well done to Lucy Weekes, Connor Williams, Naomi Gammon, Amelia Wadsworth, Sam Bentley and Will Wood who won Easter Eggs. The silver salver went to Amelia […]

Our 50th show has received lots of positive comments, about the impact on all the senses, as people entered the hall, I think everyone will agree that it looked a picture. In a few weeks we will be having a meeting to plan and discuss next year’s show. We would welcome new members on the committee, or if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please get in touch with Di Somers or myself; we would love to hear from you. I promised a list of the winners this month so… • Naomi Gammon, Eloise Doble and Lawrence McFadden all won […]
