Morning All
You may think it’s the winter and that Libby and I are shut up in the Lambing Shed ……….you’d be nearly right , but plans for the cricket season are moving on apace !
Further to our meeting last week, there is progress to report on all fronts.
PAYHEMBURY PROVISIONS have very kindly provided us with a grant ( no relation to our bar manager) of £1,000 towards a new mower, this really is very very generous and we are super grateful ( I learnt this americanism from Fred). SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHOP !
Grant has managed to arrange a friendly with Bude CC ( fantastic coastal spot to play cricket) on Sunday 16th July. Just awaiting further details regarding accommodation etc but likely plan for this mini tour is we head up to Bude Saturday, beach Sunday morning, cricket Sun pm. Further details to follow but worth diarising. The fixture list is nearly complete, it’s growing each year so everyone will get an opportunity.
Good progress on the new toilet and implement store. Neil Chambers has managed to persuade BRADFORDS BUILDING SUPPLIES to provide us with the cesspool in return for some sponsorship and Also HOWDENS will be providing further backing. Jon and Adam Pengelly have organised for PLUMB BASE to provide Toilets and basins, and hopefully for JEWSONS to provide most of the timber needed . Simon Kittow is liaising with CITY PLUMBING over plumbing stuff. Ron Chambers has marked out the site and as we have a six tonner on site the hole should be dug this morning. There is a photo of the cesspool on our facebook page if you’re interested……………..note it’s not a giant chimnea.
Christine Thair has kindly agreed to plant up the front of the club house pre season, Thank You Christine.
Firstly, a huge debt of thanks to all these people for putting themselves out and getting the job moving so quickly. Secondly, without the companies mentioned responding so positively this wouldn’t be happening so please do support them if you get any opportunity.
NATWEST CRICKET FORCE DAY is on SUNDAY 2nd APRIL starting at 9.30 am, so please diarise as there will be lots to do.
Further update to follow
Thanks to everyone again for helping to turn the Tale Millers into a real community club.
