Churchmouse – August

11 August 2013 By Sue

sunbathing-mice-drawing (1)Dear Friends,

Ooooh it’s been so hot, we mice have been having fun in the sun, but Mum has made us put on sunhats and rub sun cream into our ears. You see our pretty pink ears don’t have much fur and they burn very easily. We could do with some on our feet as well, the church roof has been so hot and as for the metal drainpipes we climb up , well they are too hot to climb, so we’ve had to spend a lot of time in the graveyard. We quite like that as if we climb onto the wall and sit in the shade of the ivy we can see all that’s going on in the village. Lots of happy, hot faces particularly after the tennis tournament and Party in the Park.

It’s been a bit quiet in church apart from Sundays and Play and Praise, we love that as we get so many crumbs! Rev Cate disappointed us by taking the School service in the Wildlife area on one Thursday so we missed the children’s lovely singing. I was a bit naughty and when Mum wasn’t looking I crept up the road into the playing field and watched their service, it was a bit different and the children sang without any music which was fantastic, it all looked great fun. Mum found out when I got back and so I was told off, but I told her I was careful crossing the road and avoiding the cats! I did meet up with a couple of my friends the field mice, they we very friendly and they said how much they enjoyed having the children in the area but hadn’t heard them sing before, they were really impressed.

Well I must go now and find a nice cool drink, I hope Parchina hasn’t drunk it all, squeaks, Parchie
