Churchmouse – January 2015

1 January 2015 By Sue

cate 3Dear Friends,
Happy New Squeaks! I hope by the time you read this we will have had some snow and Parchina and I can go out snowballing. It’s so good to get outside even when it’s cold and run around and get rid of our Christmas tummies.

We had a great time over Christmas, there were lots of berries to gather from the decorations in church and then there were lots of lovely crumbs left over from the Carols Services. We’re so glad that people drop plenty of mince pie crumbs.  “Yum yum”, we say when you have all gone as we gather them up quickly and put them in our homely nest.
We also decorate our nest with little pieces of tinsel that fall off the decorations and we have our own little tree which Dad brings in from outside where the yew tree has shed a little branch. Did you know the church mice have been doing that for hundreds of years so we too can celebrate the baby Jesus as well?

We enjoyed seeing everyone in church over the festivities and we  particularly liked the singing this year, I think the children get better every year, even the littlest ones sing so well. Parchina and I are thinking about inviting our field mice friends to join us and make a mice choir. What do you think?

Well we are starting another new year. Have you made any resolutions? We are making just one, that is to try and get to be better singers, so if you hear some funny noises coming from church it’s not Rev Cate, it’s just us little mice practising.

Happy New Squeaks, Parchie and Parchina
