Churchmouse – October

2 October 2017 By Sue

Dear Friends,

What funny weather we have been having, Parchina and I are a bit fed up getting so wet when we go out to play in the fields, the heavy rain really hurts our backs if we get caught out in it. We have managed to get out and play sometimes with our fieldmice friends and swing on the ears of wheat, even nibbling a few, we hope no one noticed.

We are pleased to have the children back, school are now coming to church twice a week, which is great as we love to hear them singing, there are so many of them now the church looks full. There are lots of new children too and some who look just a little bit little. Parchina and I peek out from the screen high up so no one can see us, but we have a great view of everything! If they sing a jolly song we like to dance to it, the other day we were dancing a bit too much and I nearly fell off the screen, that would have been awful, to see me flying through the air, it would have been a shock for us all so I must be more careful.

Thinking about a full church we are really looking forward to harvest Festival, we love it when the windows are filled with lovely displays of fruit and veg. lots of nice nibbles for us, but we’re not greedy we leave plenty to be shared out around the village.

We also have had a lovely Christening this month, Martha and her family came for a super service, I heard someone say that that was the 5th Treen Grandchild Rev Cate has christened.

We were very sad to hear that Rev Cate is leaving us, who will take her place? We do hope that any new vicar is kind to church mice, no traps or anything nasty like that please! I wonder if she might take us with her.

Well we must run off now we can hear Mum and Dad calling us for tea, I do hope it’s some nice berries and nuts, we have been collecting plenty, see you soon,

Parchie and Parchina.
