Tale Millers Cricket Club

Tale Millers CC logo

Tale Millers was formed in 2014 for local folk to enjoy some friendly 20 Over Cricket, a pint or two and some friendly banter during the summer months. We welcome enquiries from opposition teams, and new players, whatever age and sex, or join the ranks of our growing social membership.

We play our home games at Tuck Mill, a pleasant short stroll from the centre of the village on a summers evening.

  • Visitors and walk-ins are welcome during game days

  • Social memberships are available at a low annual rate

  • BBQs are catered after every match

  • Ice cold Thatcher’s and lagers are now on tap!

Hope to see you and the family there.

TMCC News – May 2021

May 28th, 2021

Well after a very dry April there was something predictable about the start of the cricket season, so after a couple of dry but somewhat chilly weeks we are now in the middle of a damper spell. That should not be confused with the dampening of enthusiasm among our squad for whilst we have only managed two games to date they have resulted in a 100% away record, with wins coming at Clyst Hydon (when it felt like about minus 5) and down on the Jurassic Coast at Branscombe, when it was a bit warmer. Whilst we haven’t yet been […]

TMCC News – March 2021

March 18th, 2021

Well, well, things seem to be looking up for the cricketers amongst us ! In his wisdom Boris looks to be taking us down a road that should mean “elite sport and athletes” ( for those in doubt, yes that’s us) can resume their activities some time soon. It remains a little unclear at present exactly when but we have a full fixture list starting with an away game at Clyst Hydon on 28th April, fingers crossed. I bumped into Janet earlier on whilst handing over a prolapse harness (for a ewe) and the good news is that Chef Eduardo […]

Are you kitted out for Cricket 2021?

March 17th, 2021

With the very short season last year we didn’t overly promote the fact that we now have BRANDED TEAM and LEISURE WEAR kindly sponsored by JV Pengelly Builders, all available to order direct from Devon County Sports  https://www.devoncountysports.com/cgi-bin/dr.cgi Whether you’re after a slightly larger shirt after lockdown , a very smart hoodie or some training shorts (not applicable unless you train) this gear offers excellent value!  Whether a player, scorer, Umpire or a supporter, don’t delay, get on line today!

Update from TMCC – March 2021

March 14th, 2021

As I type this I’m looking out over a very wet cricket field with a very full River Tale lapping along the boundary . Its that time of year when the sheep are allowed in so the outfield is gradually turning to mud – it never ceases to amaze me how nature can turn a sodden muddy mess into the Payhembury equivalent of Lords in just a couple of months. Well, we play cricket on it and you can buy a pint, perhaps after that similarities with Lords are a bit more limited. So after a much shortened 2020 season […]

September News from TMCC

August 28th, 2020

Such is the shortness of the 2020 season that, having used our allocated space in July to give an update on the revised fixture list, we now find ourselves in August with just two and a bit weeks of the season to go. Alas, t’will soon to be too dark for us to play in the evenings. Our season began at The Mill with a local derby ( most of our games are) against the serfs and villains of Plymtree, mostly the latter really . The Millers batted first and the highlights were the return to health and runs for […]

Tale Millers CC – Latest News

July 28th, 2020

At long last Boris allowed us out to play in July! After a successful fully risk assessed Club Night to get the season up and running, we then entertained near neighbours Plymtree and came out on top with the Millers scoring 134-6 and Plymtree replying with 97 All Out. Four of our batters reached the magic retirement score of 25, Shane Tout, Ben Peters, Mark Hammett (new eye) and Si Kittow (new knee) whilst wickets were taken by Shane Tout, Will Wood, and Oli Kittow amongst others. We then moved onto a home game with our friends from up Tale […]

Tale Millers CC – June News

June 28th, 2020

Apologies, readers, for the radio silence – Cricket hasn’t really been up there at the top of the agenda over recent months, not a clue why. We are in the process of preparing the pitch for some training sessions and hopefully by early July a few of us will be able to gather and reacquaint ourselves with long forgotten skills – some of us will need a very good memory. Of course, we had a good spell of weather whilst we couldn’t play, so no doubt our release onto the field of play will coincide with thunderous showers! We still […]
