Friends of Payhembury School

FOPS is made up of all those parents and carers connected with school and is organised through a committee made up of parents/carers. The committee makes decisions about the events and takes care of the formal aspects but rely on everyone else to get involved. We are extremely lucky to have such a great team at Payhembury and all the parents/carers and children are always willing to get stuck in and help out.

Some of our regular events include the Christmas Fair, May Day Fair, ice cream sales after school, wild area working days (with lots of yummy cake) and helping out generally with school as and when we are needed.

Through fundraising events FOPS raise money for fantastic school trips as well as things like the outdoor shelter, scooters, bike racks, welly racks, new outdoor play area and much more. We also organise social events for parents/carers and children throughout the year.

As the school continues to thrive there are more and more people willing and able to help and in doing so make FOPS a successful and fun group to be part of. We look forward to welcoming you to our amazing school and to FOPs.

FOPs Update – 3 November

November 3rd, 2017

Firstly a big thank you to everyone who come along to the Kids Cafe on the last day before half term. Oak class parents provided a lovely range of cakes which sold brilliantly. The game created by Alice and Gemma Millett seemed to go down well and William Brainch was the lucky winner of a jar of Smarties. Well done William and thank you to the Millets for creating the game. FOPS have a meeting on: Monday 6th November 3.30pm in the Village Hall to plan for the rest of this term. Please come along, children welcome.

FOPs Update – 13th October 2017

October 13th, 2017

Friends of Payhembury School Our aim is to support the school by raising money for the ‘extras’ which otherwise would not be provided, and through this enhancing our children’s experiences. What does FOPS spend our hard-earned money on? Parents, carers, local residents and businesses are always very generous helping FOPS raise money for the school. In the last academic year (September 2016 – July 2017), we gave over £900 to the school. The majority of this was towards trips and events outside of the classrooms although we also bought end of term prizes, Y6 leavers hoodies and provided refreshments at […]

FOPs Update – 6th October

October 8th, 2017

Thank you so, so much for all of the contributions given for Rev Cate’s high tea on Monday. It was an amazing spread and both Cate and the school were delighted with the afternoon. The children seemed pretty happy too; mine told me afterwards they had each had 5 sandwiches and 5 cakes but because they had eaten them alternately they thought it was OK. What do you spend our hard-earned money on? We’ve been asked this question a few times this term already. We’re creating a summary of our recent purchases for the school which we’ll include in next […]

All Change at FOPs

July 29th, 2017

FOPs chair Kirsty Cann has stepped down. During her years in office she was instrumental in many school achievements – the play equipment for the wild area, the Willow shelter and making the May Fair a fantastic day. Thank you Kirsty, everyone will miss you! Kirsten Brauer and Georgina (George) Burton will be taking on the chair from September.

May Day

June 3rd, 2017

An outstanding effort from the MET office brought the sunshine for May Day and the crowds came to celebrate. A beautifully poignant crowning on the green was followed by fantastic dancing from the children. No permanent injuries came from the welly wanging and all the dogs were very well behaved for Janet East in the dog show. Days of summer were welcomed in by the fabulous Otter Morris dancers, what a way to celebrate. Fun and laughter throughout made it a day to remember. Thank you to all the FOPs committee who worked so hard to make it such a […]

FOPs Annual General Meeting 2016

September 3rd, 2016

This year we have raised over £2000 with the help and support of all the parents. The committee’s job is an easy one  because we have you, so thank you from us all. We are losing Sue Holmes and Lisa Weeks from our committee this year, they have both been amazing supporters of  FOPs and the school over many years. They have been gifted an apple tree to remember the school and all the special  times they’ve had with us. On Thursday 15th September at 3:45pm in school, we will have our AGM and elect a new committee. Come and […]
