Warning Issued In Devon Over Scam Caller Pretending To Be Police Officer

Police investigating reports of a phone scam which has led to two people in their 80s handing over substantial sums of money are appealing for information. Officers are also warning residents in Devon to be vigilant of the scam, in which the caller is pretending to be a police officer. Detectives say they have had an increased number of calls about this scam over the past few weeks - particularly in the Exeter, South Devon and the Plymouth areas. Betty Johns – a Eulogy

Betty Dimond Johns, nee Granger, has set the bar very high indeed. Little did the family think that when Edwin died in February 2000 at the age of 95 and a half that this would be exceeded. Unfortunately living to such an age, but not well enough to enjoy life, made infinitely worse by Betty being isolated from family and friends due to the Covid19 pandemic for large parts of the past two years. Easter Holiday Pool Hire

Village Emergency Telephone System – VETS

If somebody collapses or has chest pain .. CALL 999 then 01404 565911 .. to summon help from a volunteer in the village, who will fetch the defibrillator and assist with resuscitation. Over 30 people attended the resuscitation training session on 7th March and hopefully found it well worthwhile. There is an excellent free app called Lifesaver - to see this app please click https://life-saver.org.uk/. This takes you through several scenarios. Families offered a Healthy Start

Recent research has shown that just under a third of households in Devon with children are experiencing food insecurity, but at the moment, only around half of eligible families are signed up to the government's Healthy Start scheme, which means many are missing out on much needed support. Police Warning – Scam Delivery Text Messages

We would like to remind residents to be wary when receiving texts requesting a delivery charge or missed delivery which includes a link. There are various different scam texts and emails of this type in circulation.
