Scam Warning from Community Police
We would like to make residents aware that we have received reports of various scams taking place where a cold caller, email, or automated call claims to be from Amazon or Amazon Prime.
Please be wary of all contact of this type – the scams have varied and include the following:
an automated call a stating a number should be pressed for various reasons
someone in person asking for vouchers to be purchased in a shop and codes to be handed over
a request to download an app

Crime Prevention Tips
During the month of August the Rural Affairs Team had the monthly theme of 'Equine Crime'. We produced an information sheet with some crime prevention advice for horse owners. These can also be applied to a farm/yard environment.
Unfortunately, over recent weeks our force area has been subject to a number of rural crimes where barns, stables, yards and other isolated areas have been targetted and items such as tools, plant/machinery, quads and other farming equipment has been stolen.

Allotments / Village Car Park / Football Pitch
The Leach family have very generously offered an area of approximately 2 acres of land down in The Meadows to be used for a village car park, allotments and a full size, flat!!! football pitch.
The Parish Council have checked with EDDC planning authority to see what their view would be regarding planning permission as there was no point pursuing this idea if EDDC felt there was no likelihood that planning permission would be granted. However, they have come back saying, in principle, planning permission could be granted.

Swimming at Slade Barton – Covid Update
While professional swimming groups are able to start returning to the pool, sadly we can't open to the general public due to continuing social distancing measures, both in and out of the water, and sanitising between each use. Life-guarding requirements are also changing.
We will continue to review guidance, but it is unlikely we will be opening to the public for the foreseeable future.
