“On Sunday, 25th June, five gardens in Payhembury, including my own at Rose Cottage, were opened on behalf of Hospiscare, and I would like to thank all those who were involved:
-
The owners of the other four gardens, Tim Woolgar & Jacqueline Hollister, Victoria Cottage; John Marchant, Colstocks Cottage; Tim & Gina Cox, Moneyglass Cottage; and Toni and Paul Lister, Moorside;
-
Pat Fowler who organised the refreshments and all her helpers on the day, plus those who baked scones and cakes;
-
Clive Fowler and Brian Salter who manned reception and managed the finances and the tickets
-
……. and all those who came to visit the gardens without whom the event would not have happened
I am very pleased to report that we gave Hospiscare £600 to help with their essential work.”

“A huge ‘thank you’ to all the fabulous bakers of Payhembury who produced and donated the most amazing array of cakes and scones for the Open Garden Teas. I think we could hold the ‘Great British Bake Off’ right here in our fantastic village!!
Many, many thanks also to the army of helpers who beavered away all afternoon – setting up, serving teas, washing up and dolloping endless supplies of clotted cream and jam. What a team. It was a great afternoon – Grateful thanks to everyone.”
