Payhembury Provisions News – March

3 March 2019 By Sue

It seems like half the nation has been watching Marie Kondo tidying her drawers. If you’re in the half of the nation who hasn’t a clue what I’m talking about, she’s the Japanese lady on the internet who is encouraging us all to de-clutter and clean up. In our shop we have many good value cleaning products to help you do just that, from bleach, floor cleaner and soda crystals to rubbish bags, J cloths and polish. So, if you get the urge to spring clean, we’re sure we can provide what you need.

Cleaning and checking the shelves in the shop is an ongoing process and now might be a good time to remind everyone of the regulations for dates on products. We are not allowed to, and we never will, sell items that have exceeded their use-by dates. The government is considering abandoning the use of best before dates but at present they are there for guidance only and items may continue to be sold after the dates; we offer a good discount on these and you will find some great deals in our bargains section.

Last month’s addition to the shop has been a microwave oven so, if you’re feeling a bit peckish after all that spring cleaning, you can now reward yourself with a hot pie, pasty or quiche. We also have a new selection of local cheeses; Dorset Red smoked cheese and Dorset blue Vinney, Cricket St Thomas Camembert and, for all fans of goat’s cheese, we have soft and delicate Vulscombe cheese which is made near Tiverton. Together with a pot of Rod and Ben’s fresh soup from the chiller and some crusty rolls or a baguette, you have the makings of a quick and delicious special lunch.

Don’t forget Shrove Tuesday on March 5th, the day to get flipping those pancakes!
