Dear Friends, what did I say in my last letter? “Don’t tell the cats!” Well what a surprise we had, last Sunday, just before the service we mice were doing our usual jog around the church when, bang, we bumped into a new addition, a small CAT! What a shock, there sitting on Rev Cate’s chair a cheeky little cat. We stopped in our tracks, very still. She looked at us, we looked at her. What could we do? Run away; but she would no doubt chase after us? Parchina started to cry. I was very brave (not really I was shaking in my trainers).
Just then Mum and Dad came along and asked us what was the matter. We pointed at the cat. “Well,” said Mum to the cat, “What are you doing here?” “I’ve been left here all alone,” replied the cat, in a very shaky voice. “Please don’t be frightened, I won’t hurt you.” “I should think not, this is God’s house and we don’t have any nasty business here,” Mum answered back quickly. “We all live here in God’s love; you can stay here with us, but you have to promise to be kind, just like Rev Cate says Jesus would want.” “Really?” answered the cat, “That’s great and I promise to be kind to you all.” “Well that’s settled then, only friendship in this church. We must get on, Parchie and Parchina will help you settle in.” Dad said.
So now you see we have a new friend living with us. What next though, a dog?! It was a pity the cat hadn’t arrived the day before, as she missed Beci and Stuart’s lovely wedding, but no doubt there are more to come.
Bye, bye, Parchie and family.
P.S. What shall we call the cat?
