There are many tasks which go on behind the scenes in the shop, from entering reams of data on the computer to paying the bills, date checking the stock, fetching the frozen food from Exeter, ordering and sourcing products, cleaning and tidying, watering the plants, keeping the storeroom organised and hauling the deliveries up there each week. We are very grateful to everyone who helps with these and the countless other jobs, as well as to all those who have become masters of the electronic till.
Your help has enabled us to make donations this …

Payhembury Provisions News – June
We've been enjoying another very busy month in the shop in May and are feeling lucky that we have so many great local businesses keeping us well stocked. Unfortunately, in common with many other small shops at the moment, our relationship with our wholesaler has been a bit strained, so if you see gaps on our shelves (remember liquid soap and hand sanitiser anyone?) rest assured that our fantastic buying team are doing their very best to fill them.
You may remember that at the beginning of April, we ordered a screen to go in front of the …

Payhembury Provisions News – May
The last few weeks have probably been some of the busiest we've ever had in the shop, not just in terms of foot-fall but also for the number of changes we've had to make. We miss all the volunteers and customers who can't come into the shop at the moment and we're grateful to all our regular volunteers who have increased their hours in the shop and helped to train up new people, not an easy task when we have to stay two metres apart. Of course all you new volunteers are the silver lining to our horrible corona cloud, we're delighted to have …

Payhembury Provisions News – April
Who would have thought that we would be feeling nostalgic for a time when boring old Brexit was uppermost in our list of worries? Now we are living in uncertain times but the encouraging news is that Payhembury with its committed and caring community spirit is a good place to be in a crisis. Within hours of publishing our Coronavirus poster, which you can see in this Parish Paper, we had offers of help from dozens of people, thank you to every one of you. So if you need some help, and that could be anyone amongst us, then just ring the shop on …

Payhembury Provisions News – March 2020
Recently, we counted all our local products and suppliers and found that we have eight from within the parish, another fourteen within about a 12 mile radius and a further fourteen from the far reaches of Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and the rest of Devon. By listening to you, our customers, we know that buying local food is important to us all, as well as being able to buy a huge range of value for money groceries in the shop. We're lucky to live in an area of the country where there is so much good food and drink and we aim to bring you the …

Payhembury Provisions News- February 2020
We know Spring is on the way when the buckets of daffodils appear for sale outside the shop. They are grown for us by Fentongollan Farm on the Fal estuary in Cornwall and are picked, packed, and in Payhembury all within a matter of hours. We'll have a selection of different varieties as they come into flower over the coming weeks.
The latest new product in our chiller this month is fresh milk from the Oak Park Dairy in Clyst Hydon. The Mitchem family, who have been running Oak Park for four generations, set up a new enterprise on their farm …

First of all, thank you to everyone who signed up to support the shop in the Best Village Shop awards run by the Countryside Alliance. Whether we make it to the shortlist or not, (we hope we do!) it has been very heartening to know that so many people appreciate our village shop, thank you!
It's always good to see new products on our shelves, particularly local ones, and this month we are very pleased to be stocking a range of face and skin creams and herbal teas. These have been developed by Halina who is not only a volunteer in the shop but …

Payhembury Provisions News – December
Ding dong merrily on high and tidings of comfort and joy.......we have once again been filled with the Christmas spirit and are giving away our hot drinks from the middle of December right into the New Year, and if you're lucky you'll even get a free cookie to go with them. Of course we'd be very happy if, in return for your drink, you chose to make a donation to support village groups or maybe bought some tickets in our Christmas raffle; you might win the first prize of £50 to spend in the shop and all the profits from the raffle will go to …

Payhembury Provisions News – November
The highlight of our annual members meeting in October was when Anita, on behalf of the Friends of Payhembury School, presented us with a folder of letters and pictures from all the children thanking everyone in the shop for the contribution we made to their lap-top appeal. We have left the folder on the shop counter for everyone to see. This year the profit from the weekly raffle was shared between the Flower and Bulb Show, a not to be missed village event, and a Christmas lunch for the members of the Tea and Bingo Club. We also gave the …
